What to Include on a Business Card

A business card is equally important like any other promotion tool in any business. A business card should not only give information to your customers, but it should also be in a position to attract new customers to your business. This is why designing an attractive and informative business card is very important to your business, and it can’t be ignored.

A well-designed business card with the right information will be an ambassador to your brand, and it will show who you are and what you do. A low-quality business card will never be helpful to your business as it will end up to the dust bin when you give it to your customers. Make sure whatever you give to your prospects will convince them to contact you in case they need your service.

What your business card got and its design is what will determine if customers will contact you or not. So what should be added on business cards?

1. Logo

The first thing to think of even before deciding what to add on your business card is the logo. A logo will be an extension of your brand, and just by looking at it one should be able to know what you do. What you need to do is to make sure your logo is well designed by someone who knows what they are doing.

A good business logo should have attractive colors, words, and shape. Make sure when someone holds your business card can identify your brand and recognize it in the future when they get into contact with it. A logo should represent your website, shop or studio, newsletter, and portfolio.

2. Your contacts

The main reason you may give people your business card is so that they can contact you when they need you. This is why including your contacts information on your business card cannot be ignored. The key thing you need to ensure when adding your contact information is that customers can reach you directly.

Don’t use your business general contact information. You may have deals and conversations with customers that can be hard when followed by someone else. If a customer calls expecting to talk with you but they are surprised by someone else who is new to them they are likely to end the call, and you will lose that customer.

Ensure the contact information you give to your customers is direct but not too private. Don’t give your personal number that when they call it will get picked by your ten years old son or daughter. Having a direct business phone number or email will be the best option.

3. Name and title

Name and title are what will remind your customers who you are and how you will help them when they call. Your name shouldn’t be your official name but the business name that you like. For example, if your real name is David and you like "Dave," then that is the one you should include in your business card.

The core purpose of a business card is to introduce you to the prospects. Include a name that will describe you the way you want to avoid unnecessary re-introductions. The main issue here is not giving your geological information but introducing yourself.

A job title should help the customers know what you will do for them. Don’t put your job title as the manager or CEO. This will not help your customers to remember who you are and what you can do for them and they will end up ignoring your card.

The best job title should show exactly what you will do, for example, you can use a “scriptwriter” or “videographer” as your job title.

4. Your social media profiles

In the current world, social media is a great marketing tool that cannot be ignored at all cost. If you don’t have a social media account is like you don’t exist and ignoring this in your business card you will have lost a lot. Make sure you include your social media profiles in your business card but definitely not all of them.

Only add the ones that describe your services better. If you are a photographer, you can consider adding your Instagram account where customers can see your photos and taste what you offer.

5. Website address

A website is a thing that you cannot ignore in this marketing era. No matter the type of the business you run a website will be helpful. If you don’t have a website, you should develop one immediately, and if you have it, then you shouldn’t hesitate from adding the address to your business card.

The key point here is not to show your prospects you have a website but to convince them to visit. You should make sure your website address is very short as no one will get home and type a 2 line address. A website will have more information about you and what you do, try as much as possible for customers to visit your site as they will most likely get lured to your service when they visit.

6. White space

While your business card should be as informative as possible, it should not be overstaffed at the same time. You should always remember the primary purpose of business cards is to invite customers and not to overwhelm them.

When talking about white space, it doesn’t necessarily mean that space should be white. It only means that there should be some free space on the card. Space can be any color provided the card will not make customers feel nauseous due to overstaffed information.

Conclusion

A business card will be essential to what you do and when designing one you should be very creative and careful. The card needs to very informative but not overstaffed at the same time. If you are not sure exactly what to do you can consider getting someone to help you. Remember you need to come up with the best business card that will fetch customers to your business.
